Day 1 continued -- Munich, Rental Car and Seefeld

Our flight to Munich left a bit late....something to do with not enough air traffic controllers in Munich (seriously, that is what the pilot said).

First view of Munich area as we descended through the clouds.

We did arrive safely and both checked bags even arrived on the same flight, always a good thing. We managed to find the Hertz Rental Car desk and our car. It is a bit humbling to be renting a Ford Focus when the lot is filled with BMW's, Volvo's, Mercedes, even a Jaguar or two!

We left the airport in pouring rain and thankfully didn't learn until later that we were technically on the Autobahn! We, as the law-abiding citizens we are, stayed to the posted speed limits (even though having a speed limit of 130 or higher is daunting to those of us not literate in the km conversion formula). However, the larger, faster cars that passed us on the left appear to not be bound to the mere suggestion of a speed limit.

The rain did clear up, we found a gas station so we could purchase the required Austrian highway sticker and we got our first view of the Alps.

More tomorrow as we head for the Dolomites. But first, recovery from jet lag...so Gute Nacht from Seefeld, Austria.

  1. The speed limit is just a guideline, you know that right?
